In general, I think music has a very large impact on scenes in movies and TV shows. You want to have music in the background because without it, the scene is just silent other than the words. That can make it a very awkward viewing experience for the viewers and overall just not as good as it could be. The soundtrack also matters a lot. If the music doesn't match up with the scene or the show/movie in general then the viewer could be confused. If you have slow, classical music playing during a scene that is very fast paced, the viewer will be distracted from the overall goal of the scene.
In terms of sound and visual effects, I think those too can make or break a scene. In a movie like Guardians of the Galaxy, sound and visual effects are very necessary. If you have a scene set in space, you can't go shoot the scene in space; visual effects are needed to make a scene like that. Also in Guardians of the Galaxy, there are scenes that are shooting lasers and other futuristic technology. These are times when sound effects are needed. We don't have that technology right now, so someone has to make that sound. Without visual and sound effects, the overall quality of a show or movie can go down greatly. They are needed to set the tone of the scene and to help illustrate the scene better for the viewer's experience.

I have had creative block plenty of times. Personally my creative block comes in the form of simply not being able to think of anything new. When I get it, I am normally trying to write a paper or anything that involves being creative or imagining things. I try to think of different things to write about but always end up repeating the same things over and over again. Trying to get out of a creative block is always hard, but once you get out of it and start imagining things more everything gets better.
Unknown to many people, there are actually many different types of creative block. The most common is the mental block. The mental block means you are getting trapped inside your own mind. You are so used to looking at things one way that you fail to see things any other way. Another type of creative block is an emotional barrier. This occurs whenever you aren't comfortable with whatever you are doing. This can happen if what you're doing is embarrassing or painful to you. There are more types of creative block but these are the most common. Getting out of a creative block is very hard. You are trapped inside the mindset of not being able to think of anything new. When you are in a mental block, try looking at things in terms of "what if...." This can help you get a new perspective on everything. Another thing to do is asking someone about their opinion on your subject. Getting out of an emotional barrier is a little harder. Emotional barriers are harder because they are normally something that is personal or close to your heart. The only way to get through an emotional barrier is to face your fear and push through. Overall, being in a creative block can be very hard because you always end up procrastinating what you need to do. When you do get through your block, everything becomes clearer and your objective becomes a lot easier to achieve. Letter to My Freshman Self
First of all, I would tell my freshman self to focus and try your hardest on your school work. I always tried on my work during my freshman year, but never went above and beyond. I realized near the end of sophomore year and beginning of junior year just how important doing well in classes was. These four years of high school can effect the rest of your life. If you don't do very well in high school, you won't get into the college you want to go to. This means you might not later on be able to get the job you want purely based off of your education. Another recommendation I would give is to do more extracurricular activities. These are very important for your college applications. Extracurricular activities show that you are involved in different disciplines and are actually doing something at your school, not just going to school then going home. They can also help you find more studies that you are interested in. This will help you later on when you are looking for a possible major in college. Not only can you explore your different options, you can volunteer with many different organizations with the extracurricular activities at your school. Some things that have changed me are how students act in class and just around school in general. I think it is very important for students to actually be on task and focus on their work when they are in school. If you are just at school to see your friends, you're wrong. School is to get an education. Your future is based on what you are doing right now. If you slack off and just don't care at all in school, it will effect what college you go to and what job you get later on in life. |
